An Unnerving Audience

Picture standing in front of all the people you've ever known in every aspect of your life.  Childhood friends, schoolmates, the lady from church your family knew when you were seven.  College buddies, co-workers, club contacts, mom friends.
And truthfully - it's who you rub shoulders with everyday and post to on facebook, right?
That's who I am in front of today, as I launch a studio for teaching music lessons.  Something I should have done years ago, honestly.
Many of you have seen me sing since I was 12, in the choir loft, or doing a solo.  Some of you have only known me a few months, and barely even know I have a musical cell in my body. Turns out there are lots of those cells!
For those who don't know, I am a degreed professional, in Vocal Music Performance.  I have taught in some form or fashion for about 25 years, maybe more.  I have been performing for over 30 years now.  I have had many varied experiences, from the choir, to auditioned choirs, to touring groups, worship teams, bilingual teams, solo work, to directing worship teams, and large scale musicals, and even recording in Nashville, TN.
And I am now blessed with the opportunity to give back to the passion I've had for so many years and help others generate the successes they have a passion for.
Many of my students are children, but I also teach septuagenarians, and find all of them to be such a treat.  I've taught vocalists with band backgrounds who want to be the next lead role in an off-Broadway play.  I've taught the six year old who can barely reach the keys, and can't reach the floor.  I've taught neurologically injured patients trying to reconnect their brains and fingers.  I've taught multiple spectrum-disorder children, using music for therapy, and have developed some special techniques just for them.  I've taught the aspiring worship leader to strive for excellence in their craft.
And I can't wait to meet the next student!

While there she taught, played, recorded, and performed in several different bands, choirs, plays, and a longtime duo. The call of family was strong, and she returned to west Michigan with her growing family in 2012. She has now returned to her roots, and is enjoying the “full-circle” of being home, where her love of music began. Jill appreciates the practical and the passion that go into making music. She strives to capture what will motivate the student to intrinsically desire to hone their craft. “If it's not fun and you don't enjoy it, you won&#
